From 1 October, renting a boat requires a licence
Here is exactly what has changed, what your options are, and how we support you with each one.
What changes
The exemption that allowed certain boats to be rented without a licence now applies only to private use.
From 1 October 2026, skippering a rental boat yourself requires a licence. This is a nationwide change across Spain.
