Masca by boat from Los Gigantes
Masca Bay can be reached from the sea. Boats leave the marina at Los Gigantes, follow the coast north under the cliffs and anchor in the bay at the foot of the Masca ravine.
Masca, the village and the bay
Masca is a village in the Teno massif, in north-west Tenerife. The ravine that bears its name runs down to the sea and ends at Masca beach. By road the village is reached through the mountains; the bay at the bottom of the ravine is reached by sea.
The route from Los Gigantes
From the marina the boat heads north along the Acantilados de Los Gigantes, the cliffs that give the town its name, towards Masca Bay. The navigation area for this stretch runs from Alcalá in the south to the Punta de Teno lighthouse in the north.
Where boats anchor
This part of the coast has designated anchoring zones. The two used for a stop and a swim are Masca beach and Carrizales beach.
With or without a skipper
- Self-drive boat. Until 30 September 2026 it can be hired without a nautical licence. From 1 October 2026 a licence is required to skipper it yourself.
- Private charter. A skipper comes on board, so no licence is needed at any time of year.
