Boat rental in Tenerife: what you can hire and where from
Los Gigantes, on the south-west coast of Tenerife, is where we go out from — with the cliffs right in front and sheltered water most of the year.
Three different ways to go out
- Self-drive boat. You are at the helm, at your own pace, stopping where you feel like it.
- Skippered private charter. Someone on board takes care of the sailing. For groups, celebrations, or anyone who would rather not deal with it.
- Guided jet ski safari. An instructor leads the route.
The licence change on 1 October 2026
Until 30 September 2026 you can rent and skipper a boat without a nautical licence. From 1 October a licence is required to skipper it yourself. It is a national change and applies across Spain.
It does not affect charters, which come with a skipper, or jet ski safaris, which are guided. We are also preparing a licence course in Los Gigantes, with a waiting list open.
