Boat hire in the south of Tenerife, near Costa Adeje
Los Gigantes harbour is about 30 minutes by car from Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas. That is where our boats leave from: self-drive if you hold a licence, and skippered, private or by the seat.
How long it takes to get here
- Puerto Santiago and Playa de la Arena: about 5 minutes.
- Playa San Juan: about 15 minutes.
- Callao Salvaje: about 20 minutes.
- Costa Adeje (La Caleta, Fañabé, Torviscas): about 30 minutes.
- Playa de las Américas: about 35 minutes.
- Los Cristianos: about 40 minutes.
Approximate driving times without traffic. You can also come by bus (TITSA) or taxi. Please be at the harbour 30 minutes before departure.
Why set off from Los Gigantes
The cliffs start right at the harbour, and following them north you reach the bay of Masca, reached from the sea. Los Gigantes also lies within the protected Teno-Rasca waters, home all year round to short-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins.
What you can hire
- Silver 555, self-drive. 5 metres, up to 6 people, fuel included: 2 hours for €240, 3 hours for €270, 4 hours for €330 and 6 hours for €450. A boating licence is required.
- Skippered charter. 8 metres, up to 9 people, skipper and fuel included. Private: 3 hours for €600, 6 hours for €1,050 or a full day for €1,300. Shared, 3 hours: €75 per person. No licence required. More about the charter.

Departure times
The Silver 555 leaves between 10:00 and 17:00 and is back by 20:00 at the latest. The charter leaves at 10:30 and at 13:45. For a morning trip from Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas, allow about 40 minutes for the drive.
Licence
Since 1 October 2026, taking the helm of a rental boat requires a boating licence anywhere in Spain. Without one, the charter sails with a skipper and nothing is required from you. Which licence you need.
Booking and cancellation
You book and pay online, on each boat's page, with live availability. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before departure, and if the weather does not allow a safe trip, the date is moved or the amount refunded.

Can I hire a boat in Costa Adeje?
AD Boat Rental does not sail from Costa Adeje but from Los Gigantes harbour, on the west coast, about 30 minutes away by car. From there you can book a skippered trip, private or by the seat, or a self-drive boat with a licence.
How long is the drive from Playa de las Américas to Los Gigantes?
About 35 minutes by car without traffic; from Los Cristianos, about 40. There are also buses and taxis.
How much does it cost to hire a boat in the south of Tenerife?
At AD Boat Rental, the self-drive Silver 555 costs €240 for 2 hours, and the skippered charter €600 for 3 hours private, or €75 per person shared.
Do I need a licence to hire a boat in the south of Tenerife?
To drive it yourself, yes: since 1 October 2026 every rental boat requires a boating licence. With a skipper you do not need one.
